With 46 hundred in 274 ODI games, Virat Kohli needs three more to match his childhood hero and former teammate Sachin Tendulkar.

When asked if it would be an “emotional moment” for him to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI hundreds, former India captain Virat Kohli said it would be. Not many people had faith that anyone would ever be able to match the ‘Little Master’ Tendulkar, who retired with 49 ODI hundreds and a 100th international tonne. But with 46 hundred in 274 ODI games, Kohli, now 34, needs another three to match his childhood hero and former teammate. The day Kohli reaches that mark will be “very emotional for me,” he admits swiftly when asked about his feelings about it.

Kohli also reminisced about his time playing cricket with older boys and stressed the value of sports in his life.

Athletes learn important lessons about life, discipline, and strategic planning. It broadens your perspective and makes you more effective. Playing sports has tremendous benefits for people of all ages and occupations.

“Instead of merely having kids do sports, you should be teaching them. Kohli continues, “It is important to teach them small details of what it means to play a sport,” recalling how his school’s vice principal relieved the stress of school by encouraging him to follow cricket religiously.

The six-part docu-series, produced by PUMA and Disney Hotstar, features Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, MC Mary Kom, Chhetri, Harmanpreet Kaur, and para-athlete Avani Lekhara and delves deeply into their respective paths to highlight the transformative power of sports and fitness.
