Jharkhand’s comeback against Kerala in their Ranji Trophy Group C match in Ranchi on Thursday was scripted by Ishan Kishan, who extended his dominant run by smashing his second hundred in as many meetings. Only seven days after scoring the fastest ODI double-century against Bangladesh, Kishan guided Jharkhand back from 114/4 to 340 all out with a grizzled 132 (9×4) off 195 balls. The help he received from Saurabh Tiwary was invaluable, and despite getting dismissed for a low score by Jalaj Saxena, Tiwary was only three runs short of a merited century.

When Jharkhand’s top order was shattered by Basil Thampi (3/55) and Vaisakh Chandran (2/81), the fifth-wicket partnership of 202 runs that followed helped bring the team back from the brink.

The 5/75 that Jalaj Saxena took for Kerala was outstanding. At the end of play at the JSCA International Stadium, Kerala was 60/1 and leading by 195 runs.

Jharkhand started the day at 87 for 3, but they only added 27 runs before losing their captain, Virat Singh (30). However, Kishan and Tiwary were able to weather the storm created by Saxena and Thampi throughout the first two sessions of the game.

While Jharkhand’s first innings lasted 105.3 overs, it all came crashing down when Saxena took two wickets in one over, removing Tiwary and Kishan.

Two for Arjun!

Left-arm seamer Arjun Tendulkar collected 2/77 for Goa in their match against Rajasthan on day three, a day after making a century in his first first-class encounter to live up to his famed father’s standards.

In his four overs, Arjun bowled out Mahipal Lomror for 63 and Salman Khan for 40. As play concluded on day one, Rajasthan was 245/6, 302 runs behind Goa thanks to Mohit Redkar’s return of 3/46.

Ahead of schedule, Goa called their first innings, with a score of 547 for 9.
