During the match, Nick Kyrgios became upset because of an on-court conversation with a woman he said was “drunk out of her mind.”
The Wimbledon 2022 championship was won by Novak Djokovic in four sets over Nick Kyrgios. To win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7/3), the now seven-time Wimbledon winner came back from a set down. Kyrgios complained to the umpire several times during the match about spectators distracting him. When a woman spoke to him in the middle of the game, he became enraged, saying she was “drunk out of her mind.” What he told Renaud Lichtenstein, the umpire, when asked about the audience distractions: “The woman who looks like she’s had 700 beers, buddy,” he replied.
Michael Vaughan, a former England captain, made light of the incident on Twitter.
Kyrgios referred to the umpire as “bro” during the match, so Vaughan tweeted, “I want to meet the girl who has had 700 beers.”
Sachin Tendulkar, the renowned Indian hitter, had a funny tweet about Kyrgios as well.
It’s getting hot in London, but Nick Kyrgios’ mind is even hotter, he joked on Twitter.
“What a great showman! He’s a joy to see “he went on to say.
When a protester was expelled from the stadium for yelling “Where is Peng Shuai?” in reference to the health of China’s women’s tennis star, the match was immediately stopped.
In the midst of Kyrgios’ ranting, Djokovic cruised to victory, winning the tournament in straight sets with a comfortable tiebreak.
