Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is allegedly ready to lead India against the Windies in their home series.

West Indies series: Rohit Sharma is available, according to a PTI report. Due to an injury, he was unable to make the trip to South Africa.

Against the West Indies, India will play a six-match white-ball series beginning on February 6 in Ahmedabad with three one-day internationals. White-ball captain Rohit Sharma is “healthy” and ready to lead the team against the West Indies. This week’s team selection meeting will be interesting because some of India’s most experienced players, such as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin, will be scrutinized after a disappointing ODI series defeat to South Africa. Rohit, on the other hand, has recovered from a hamstring ailment that kept him out of the tour of South Africa. The T20 matches versus the Caribbean team will be held in Kolkata from February 16 to 20.

An anonymous BCCI official confirmed to PTI that “Rohit is fit and available” for the West Indies series.

“Rohit will have spent more than seven and a half weeks rehabilitating and recuperating before the West Indies series begins.

a source said, “He has already begun his preparations in Mumbai and will be in Bangalore for the National Cricket Academy’s fitness test and formal okay.”

To be known as Rohit, even as a test-captain

Despite Rohit’s workload and the burden of guiding India to two consecutive World Cups in 2022 and 2023, it is almost inevitable that he will remain Test captain for the time being.

For now, KL Rahul would remain an apprentice under Rohit till he is judged to be able to head the national squad in the near future, according to the consensus.

It’s hard to imagine Rahul, the captain who led India to an 0-4 series defeat in South Africa, as a dynamic figure in Indian cricket.

Rahul’s performance as captain of the Lucknow Super Giants is expected to be closely examined during this year’s Indian Premier League.

The return of Hardik Pandya

If Rahul Dravid and Venkatesh Iyer’s inexperience at No. 6 as well as Hardik Pandya’s practice in the nets suggest that the colorful Baroda man was missed, then the West Indies may be an opportunity for him to make a comeback.

“You have to remember that Hardik was dropped and not rested after the T20 World Cup because he was so physically fit. They intended to send a message following his disappointing performance at the World T20, but he is simply too good a player to be kept out for long.

According to the source, if he doesn’t play against the West Indies, he’ll definitely play against Sri Lanka.

Another player who looks like he’ll play either against the Windies or Sri Lanka in the near future is Ravindra Jadeja.

Bumrah could be taking a break.

Indian team management is a priority for Jasprit Bumrah, and he may be rested for the six matches in order to reduce his workload.

This is after Bumrah played in all six matches in South Africa, including three Tests and three 50-over games, and bowled the most overs of any player (104.5 overs in Tests and 30 in ODIs).

However, Bhuvneshwar, whose form has dwindled, may be replaced by Ashwin, who made his ODI comeback in the South Africa leg.

In the T20 competition, the likes of Avesh Khan and Harshal Patel could once again be selected.
