IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals has recruited Tabraiz Shamsi, South African left-arm spinner, to their UAE-leg team from September 19.
Rajasthan Royals lured up South African left-armed bracelet spinner Tabraiz Shamsi on Wednesday for the remainder of the 2021 Indian Premier League season scheduled for 19 September in the UAE. Shamsi, world No. 1 in the ICC rankings of T20I bowlers, will join the squad as its second replacement. Johannesburg’s 31-year-old debuted for South Africa internationally during a bilateral 2017 T20I series against England. Since then, the left-arm leg spinner has collected 45 wickets in 39 T20I and 32 wickets in 27 South African ODIs.
In the IPL Shamsi played four games in which he collected 3 wickets for Bangalore, who had recruited him in the 2016 season as a substitute player.
Meanwhile, Australian pacer Andrew Tye, who departed home during the first phase of the IPL in the middle of the COVID-19 outbreak, says that he won’t be available for the rest of the season.
“It is with tremendous regret that I must take the Rajasthan Royals from the rest of the IPL 2021,” Tye stated in a franchise release.
“It was a tough year for me that kept me away from home for a long time, and I’m even more disappointed not to be part of the World Cup team.”
“Therefore, in keeping with my best interests, I had to make this difficult decision to stay home and prepare myself physically and emotionally for the T20 World Cup next year.”
“I verified that this year I can’t join the Royals family, but like all the fans I’m going to cheer on the squad.”
Liam Livingstone was the other RR player who returned to England in April citing exhaustion from biomass. Rajasthan Royals are now fifth with three winners and four losses from the seven games in the pool table.
