Dinesh Karthik has suggested that the Indian squad give Jitesh Sharma a shot at No. 6 in the batting order instead of the great all-rounder Deepak Hooda.

Places on the Indian cricket squad are as hotly contested as they have ever been. Even though the Indian team plays a lot of games, there are always fresh faces trying to break into the main squad. Dinesh Karthik, the veteran wicketkeeper and batsman, has recommended that Deepak Hooda bat higher in the order and the uncapped Jitesh Sharma bat sixth as Team India continues to have trouble finding a ‘finisher’ in Twenty20 International cricket.

Hooda has excelled in the third and fourth positions in the Indian Premier League, but he has been tested as a finisher for the Indian team, often falling as low as sixth. Karthik is unhappy with the all-assigned rounder’s role and thinks the team should give him a go at No. 3 before deciding to replace him.

“Being consistent is challenging at any age, but especially at 6 and 7. So, even though Deepak Hooda has excelled in the No. 3 position, they still think he can succeed at the No. 6 and No. 7 positions. In my opinion, he has a significant battle ahead of him. With the exception of his time with the Lucknow Super Giants, he has spent most of his IPL career batting in the middle of the order, around position No. 5. He sees himself as a potential leadoff hitter. He left Baroda for Rajasthan and found a place where he could finally be himself. He’s most comfortable coming up to bat during a man advantage. He’s the kind of guy that likes to step up to the challenge. However, recently he had a terrific opportunity in the Sri Lanka series and performed adequately at No. 6 “On Cricbuzz, Karthik was talking to Harsha Bhogle.

Youngster Jitesh Sharma has been nurtured to play at the No. 6 spot, and Karthik is confident that he would welcome the opportunity to do so.

No.6 batsman Jitesh Sharma was born and raised in India. He is the type of player who would thrive in such an environment because batting is one of his favorite activities. She has practiced batting there and is proficient at it. However, I don’t think he will be appearing in this series. The turn has come for Deepak Hooda. Karthik believes they should give him a shot at No. 3 before giving up on him if he is feeling the heat.
