The second ODI was suspended on Thursday before the game started.

Due to a positive COVID-19 test result from non-playing members in the West Indian squad, the second ODI between West Indies and Australia was suspended after the toss.

After Cricket West Indies (CWI) meetings and Cricket Australia (CA) meeting on Friday evening, CWI announced a three-match ODI Series that will be resumed on Saturday after discussions with the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) and the Government of the Physicians of Barbados on Monday. The second ODI was halted on Thursday and will now be played at Kensington Oval on Saturday, with Australia winning the draw and choosing to fight. “Tomorrow at Kensington Oval, we are pleased to announce the restart of the CG Insurance ODI series. We wish to thank our colleagues at CA for their cooperation in this area as we seek to bring the games back on track.

Special gratitude to our CEO Johnny Grave, Cricket Australia Chairman Earl Eddings, his CEO Nick Hockley and our respective teams in the field of medicine and operations. I appreciate the critical role played by the BCA and the Barbados Government in working closely with CWI to guarantee the restoration of the series, “In an official statement, CWI President Ricky Skerritt remarked.

“Two days have been tough and we worked very quickly and safely to ensure that every precaution was put in place to ensure that the play could be resumed safely tomorrow, following all the medical protocols established. We will continue to observe and react accordingly, “He said that.

On Thursday the second ODI between West Indies and Australia, due to a positive COVID-19 test result from a non-play member of the team in the West Indians and negotiations between local health officers and the CWI and CA Medical Teams before the game began, was suspended following the toss.

All the West Indies and Australia players and coaching personnel, as well as game officials, event workers, and television production teams, were promptly tested in a hotel for the COVID-19, with everyone isolated in their rooms until negative results were obtained by all 152 participants.

The ODI series is part of the ODI Super League of the International Cricket Council (ICC), where the two nations strive to achieve automatic qualification points for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in India.
