Ravichandran Ashwin, a spinner with the Rajasthan Royals, has revealed the reasoning for his decision to retire against the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2022.
Indian Premier League (IPL) legend Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement on Sunday, becoming the first player to do so in the history of the competition. Rajasthan Royals batsman Ashwin retired after 19 overs of his team’s innings, allowing Riyan Parag to come out and begin his attack on the bowling staff right immediately. The Rajasthan Royals went on to win the match by three runs after Parag scored eight runs off four balls.
Ashwin explained to Cricbuzz why he chose to retire in the middle of a match and how it’s an important component of the game that hasn’t previously been examined.

ICC all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite applauded Ashwin’s decision and feels that more teams will use the technique in Twenty20 cricket.
