IPL in 2022
Three players from India's U19 World Cup-winning team are worth keeping an eye on in the IPL in 2022.

A look at three players from India’s U-19 World Cup-winning squad who might light up the Indian Premier League in 2022

They have recently won their fifth Under-19 World Cup title after defeating England by four wickets and 14 balls remaining. This year’s high-octane final was followed across the world because it showcased the brightest emerging stars of the future. After the World Cup, some players were able to secure their first contracts in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Many people were impressed by the maturity of players like Raj Bawa, Rajvardhan Hangargakar, and Yash Dhull. In contrast, Harnoor Singh and spinner Vicky Ostwal were unable to find a buyer and failed to make a profit.

Both Bawa and Hangargekar were purchased by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for a total of Rs 2 crore. The Delhi Capitals purchased Skipper Dhull from the Mumbai Indians for Rs 50 lakh.

Among India’s World Cup-winning U-19 squad, these are three players to keep an eye out for

Raj Bawa: The all-around skills of Raj Bawa, who was a handful for the opposition during the World Cup, make him an ideal signing for PBKS. Bawa was the second-highest run-scorer and the second-highest wicket-taker for India in the competition. Bawa amassed 252 runs and nine wickets in six games, averaging 63.

However, even though he only took five wickets in the competition, Rajvardhan Hangargekar’s tenacity and positive attitude helped him secure an IPL contract. His batsmanship was also on display, as the pacer scored some key runs in his final overs. He finished the event with six sixes.

While India U19 skipper Yash Dhull missed a couple of games because of Covid-19, he recovered well enough to finish with 229 runs at a remarkable average of 76.33.
