Virat Kohli
RCB has retained Virat Kohli as part of its IPL player retentions.

When asked if he had second thoughts about playing for RCB for the next three World Cups, Virat Kohli responded no.

When asked whether he has second thoughts about playing for IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the next three seasons, India captain Virat Kohli responded no. Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj were the RCB’s only players to be announced ahead of the mega auction. “RCB has decided to keep me on board for the remainder of the journey. I had no second thoughts when I was contacted. Three more years with the franchise that means a lot to me has been an incredible trip. When it comes to my future, I believe the best is yet to come, and I have a strong sense of anticipation for what the future holds “The statement was made by Kohli in a video that was broadcast on the RCB YouTube channel.

“Our fan support is fantastic, and the administration has been terrific in its dealings with myself and the other players. On the field, I was a different person with more enthusiasm. However, when it comes to RCB, I intend to give it my all “he went on to say.

In the middle of the IPL 2021 season, Kohli made the announcement that he will no longer be the captain of the team after that year.

A contract of INR 15 crores was negotiated to keep Kohli, who has been a part of the squad since the beginning. Maxwell, who was signed by the team for INR 11 crores last season, has remained with the squad. RCB has agreed to pay Siraj 7 crores to stay with the squad after he joined in 2018.

RCB Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson stated this regarding the team’s retained players: “Exhaustive efforts have gone into keeping players engaged and coming back. While we had a strong group of players, we needed to make sure we had enough money set aside for the IPL Mega Auction before bidding began. Even though we were glad to keep a lot of our current players, we would have lost some of our bargaining power in the auction to find a more well-rounded team.”

“We will do everything we can to keep as many players as possible during the auction,” he said.
