In the lead-up to the IPL mega-auction, a number of top-tier cricketers have not been retained by their franchises.

The existing eight IPL clubs retained a total of 27 cricketers on Tuesday, including eight overseas and four uncapped players. However, a lot of the game’s best players have been let go by their teams. Both of the two new teams will have a chance to select players before the auction, which might increase or decrease their bids. Alternatively, players could be returned to the auction pool.

Cricket Club of Bengaluru In Bangalore, AB de Villiers’ announcement that he was leaving the Indian Premier League left RCB with a few difficult decisions to make. Last season’s purple cap winner Harshal Patel was not retained by the club this time around. Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg-spinner, couldn’t make it either.

Harshal Patel, Devdutt Padikkal, and Yuzvendra Chahal have all been discharged by RCB.

KKK: The two-time IPL champs stuck with Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, their trusted Caribbean firepower. For Shubman Gill, the lack of faith in Varun Chakravarthy and Venkatesh Iyer meant that there was no room for him.

Shubman Gill, Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, Nitish Rana, and Rahul Tripathi were among the prominent players released by KKR.

On retention day, the Delhi Capitals could give the Michigan Wolverines a run for their money. Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, and Anrich Nortje were the only four players retained by the Delhi franchise, who had a bevy of stars to choose from but only four retentions allowed.

Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, and Kagiso Rabada are some of the DC major names that have been freed.

For the Rajasthan Royals, it was always going to be difficult to retain the core of their overseas battery, given only two international recruits were allowed under IPL retention criteria. Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were all included in RR’s squad.

Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and Mustafizur Rahman are among the notables who have been released by RR.

The SunRisers Hyderabad has had a rough run in the Indian Premier League, and this was evident in their retention policy. Despite this, allowing Rashid Khan to be auctioned off was a little unexpected. SRH kept Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad, and Umran Malik as uncapped cricketers.

David Warner, Rashid Khan, Jonny Bairstow, Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were among the notable names released by SRH.

Fans of the Punjab Kings were heartbroken to learn that KL Rahul will no longer be playing for the team, as had been widely reported. Mayank Agarwal and uncapped left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh were retained by the Punjab Kings.

KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, and Mohammed Shami were among the notable names released by PBKS.
