Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto will be leading the high-level committee constituted by Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to decide whether or not the national cricket team will compete in the ODI World Cup in India in 2023. Before submitting its recommendations to Sharif, the committee would investigate and examine the state of Pakistan and India’s relations, the government’s policy of keeping sports and policy separate, and the situation in India from the perspectives of players, officials, fans, and the media. The Prime Minister of Pakistan is also the supreme patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Pakistan is scheduled to arrive in India on October 5 for the 50-over tournament that the International Cricket Council and host BCCI have already announced.

Maryam Aurangzeb, Asad Mahmood, Amin ul Haq, Qamar Zaman Kaira, and ex-diplomat Tariq Fatmi are also on the committee, in addition to the Minister of Sports, Ahsan Mazari.

The relevant governments have informed the PCB that they will send a high-level security committee to India to inspect the stadiums where Pakistan’s matches are scheduled to take place.

To discuss India’s rejection to send its squad to Pakistan due to security concerns, acting chairman of the board Zaka Ashraf and top operating officer Salman Taseer are scheduled to leave for Durban on Saturday night.
