The BCCI announced Ravichandran Ashwin’s inclusion in India’s 15-man T20 World Cup roster for UAE and Oman.

The BCCI announced on Wednesday that Ravichandran Ashwin has been included in India’s 15-man T20 World Cup team. Ashwin hasn’t played a T20I since 2017. The squad also got a new tutor in former India captain MS Dhoni. The Indian side, captained by Virat Kohli, does not contain opener Shikhar Dhawan but does include leg spinner Varun Chakravarthy.

The roster also includes Mohammed Shami and Ishan Kishan as wicketkeepers.

Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, and Deepak Chahar are also on alert.

The BCCI secretary stated Dhoni’s position as a trainer will be restricted to the T20 World Cup.

“I met him in Dubai. He agreed to mentor WT20 alone, and I discussed it with my colleagues. I told the captain (Virat Kohli) and vice-captain (Rohit Shamra), “PTI cited him as saying.

India is in Group 2 of the World Cup Super 12. Eight teams have already qualified, and four more from the first round will join them.

India’s group includes Afghanistan, New Zealand, and arch-rival Pakistan, plus two extra first-round teams.

Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Mohd Shami make up the Indian squad.
