Ajinkya Rahane
In 2021, Ajinkya Rahane has struggled to find his best form.

Dinesh Karthik believes that Ajinkya Rahane being left out of India’s squad for the Mumbai Test would relieve some of the strain that he is under.

Ajinkya Rahane’s spot in Team India’s playing XI for the second and final Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is in jeopardy because of his poor run with the bat. Rahane’s dismal start to the year continued in the drawn opening test at Kanpur, where he scored 35 and 4. Despite his age, the 33-year-old hitter has an average of 19.6. Dinesh Karthik, an Indian cricketer, believes that Rahane being left out of the team for the Mumbai Test will relieve some of Rahane’s strain.

As Shreyas Iyer steps up, I believe Rahane could be dropped because of the increased strain on him. Rahane was benched for a game on a South African trip before being reinstated.

“On his own, Iyer has brought India to the safe zone in this Test. He’s done a fantastic job. Not to mention that Rahane has scored runs in at least two previous Tests. The problem has now been going on for a considerable period of time now. Dropping him isn’t such a horrible thing, in my opinion. As a result, he says, “it will be easier for him.”

“I’m inclined to believe that Cheteshwar Pujara has some of the same baggage. It’s been a long time since he’s had a hundred. Also, he’s been in his mid-20s since the beginning of 2020. These two athletes have quite high expectations for themselves. They’d be well aware that they’ve fallen short of expectations.
