On Thursday, a video of Prithvi Shaw fighting a woman surfaced online, and the ensuing debate began.

On Thursday, star Indian batter Prithvi Shaw got into problems after a video of him fighting a woman surfaced online. A police report states that a fight involving a baseball bat and a car chase occurred after an argument with the captain of the Indian Under-19 team that won the 2018 World Cup. According to a report by the PTI news agency, the incident began in the early hours of Thursday at a fancy hotel, when the accused sought selfies with the cricketer. The player reportedly granted some of the requests but declined others as the requests got more persistent.

They said eight guys charged at Shaw and his friend, smashed their windscreen and demanded INR 50,000 before fleeing the scene.

Shaw has a history of controversy. Several times when Shaw found himself in a jam are detailed below.

A doping violation resulted in an eight-month ban

For eight months in 2019, Shaw was banned from competition due to a drug offense. Shaw, who is affiliated with the Mumbai Cricket Association, accidentally took a banned drug, which is often found in cough medicines, according to a press release from the BCCI. According to the announcement, Prithvi Shaw’s eight-month suspension would be considered to have begun on March 16 and run through November 15, 2019.

A previous statement from the BCCI read, “Shaw had supplied a urine sample as part of the BCCI’s anti-doping testing policy during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match on February 22, 2019, in Indore.”

Yo-yo test failure.

There is a mandatory yo-yo fitness test in order to make the Indian cricket team. There was a report from the PTI news agency that Shaw did not pass the screening at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru before the 2022 IPL. The article said that Shaw scored less than 15 when the BCCI-recommended minimum mark for males is 16.5.

Shaw sent a mysterious message to his Instagram stories after the news broke, reading: “PIzz Don’t Judgment Me, When You Don’t Know My Situation, U Are Making Your Own Karma…”

Refusing to practice batting in 2020 IPL matches

Australia legend and Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting shed some light on Shaw’s 2020 IPL season slump by saying the batsman had refused to practice while he was struggling.

When attempting to figure out how to train him and get the most out of him, Ponting said they had some “very intriguing discussions” during last year’s IPL.

“But, he had an intriguing notion about his batting last season: he won’t bat if he isn’t scoring runs, and he wants to bat constantly if he is. After four or five games in which he scored less than 10, I told him, “We have to get to the nets and sort out (what’s wrong),” but he looked me in the eye and said, “No, I’m not batting today.” I just couldn’t figure that out.”
