WTC final: An Indian team consisting of Cheteshwar Pujara will take on the New Zealanders in the final of the World Test Championship, at Southampton on June 18th.

Not to be confused with cricket’s world Test championship (which New Zealand won last year), Indian Test batting mainstay Cheteshwar Pujara can’t wait to return to the field for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand. In England ahead of the tournament final, the Indian cricketers might be in quarantine but they are still sweating it out in the gym in order to ensure they are fit and ready to play once they exit quarantine in the UK.

As with the last time, the BCB has taken precautions in England to ensure that the cricketers get their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccines under the supervision of the UK government’s Department of Health.

“The team took the first dose in this location following the government’s decision to allow vaccinations for all above age 18. Once the players are eligible to receive the second injection, the UK health department will administer the second dose “According to BCCI sources, ANI reported.

BCCI has developed a foolproof plan for the national team ahead of departure for the UK, as well as prior to the players assembling in Mumbai on May 19, where three RT-PCR tests are going to be performed on all of the players.

Next, the team will spend another 10 days in the UK in quarantine. The team will endure a rigorous quarantine before they are allowed to use the practice field to prepare for the London 2012 gold-medal match against New Zealand in Southampton, which is set to begin on June 18th.

The New Zealand national team arrived in the UK ahead of their series against England, which starts on June 16. During the time of the ECB/WTC Bilateral Series, the team will pass through an ECB-sanctioned bio-secure environment, where they will be subject to testing at fixed and random intervals prior to and after arrival in Southampton.
