England against India: Warwickshire Captain Wilfred Rhodes will be leading a 14-member Select County XI team in the Riversides Ground, Durham, three-day warm-up game on July 20.

Warwickshire Captain Willi Rhodes will be leading a 14-speaker Select County XI on the Riverside Side from 20-22 July in a three-day warm-up match against India, the Cricket Board of England and Wales confirmed Thursday. A former British bowler and a current Young Lions (A team) head coach Richard Dawson will supervise a “County XI Select to play India in a three-day encounter on Emirates Riverside, beginning on Tuesday 20 July.” This team was usually termed, in former years, “Combined Counties,” which always held a first-class position versus the touring countries. The match is played behind closed doors, with Indian contingents reporting several positive COVID-19 instances, including Rishabh Pant, first-team keeper.

The Select County XI roster also includes James Bracey, a recent test rookie, and Haseeb Hameed, who made its test debut in 2016 against India.

“The team has been selected after considering the top player availability counties and to provide some of the high talents in the whole county the opportunity to test themselves against the ICC World Test Championship finalists,” announced the ECB.

A small bubble will be established by ECB when all selected players undertake COVID-19 testing for this game.

“The county players will connect to a team environment before being cleared for the match and submit to Covid testing.”

The ECB commended the counties of first-class for “continuing to support players in this event and the Durham county cricket club for facilitating this match.”

The game is open to viewers live on the YouTube channel of the Durham County Cricket Club with ball-by-ball comments and on the BBC radio.

The County Select XI Squad: Will Rhodes (Warwickshire – Captain), Rehan Ahmed (Leicestershire), Tom Aspinwall (Lancashire) EthanBamber (Middlesex) James Bracey (Gloucestershire), Jack Carson (Sussex). Zak Chappell (Nottinghamshire) Haseeb Hameed (Nottinghamshire), James (Nottinghamshire) (Warwickshire).
