India starts its tour in Colombo with the first ODI on 18 July

Sri Lanka vs. India: On Thursday the BCCI tweeted Shikhar Dhawan-led India Limited-Overs side.

Shikhar Dhawan-led India’s white-ball team conducted their first practice session in Colombo on Thursday. The BCCI Twitter official handle uploaded pictures and described the post as: “It’s time to hit the networks. Our first lights practice session now begins.” The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) already confirmed the amended route for the approaching limited-over series to Sri Lanka in India.

“The tour with 3 ODIs and as many T20Is will now begin on the 18th July 2021,” the BCCI’s official announcement stated.

The three ODIs are currently on 18, 20, and 23 July. The three T20Is will be on 25, 27, and 29 July.

The Indian side captained by Shikhar Dhawan was set to play the Tuesday ODI series, however, the tour will begin on 18 July due to the latest COVID-19 cases in camp in Sri Lanka.

Previously, three UK players testing COVID-19 positively sent alarm bells ringing, as Sri Lanka last played against the English squad.

Sri Lanka played in three ODIs and three T20Is against England, and on Tuesday night cricketers returned to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka failed to win a single match on their England tour as they had a 3-0 T20I default and a 2-0 ODI loss.
