After CSk overcame GT to win their fifth IPL title, Deepak Chahar broke out into a wild dance in the hotel foyer.
Even though the Gujarat Titans were the ‘home’ team in Monday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final between the Chennai Super Kings and the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, everyone wore yellow in honor of MS Dhoni. There were wild celebrations inside and outside the stadium when CSK defeated GT by five wickets to claim the title. CSK’s pacer Deepak Chahar was so elated with the team’s championship win that he busted out into an impromptu dance in the hotel foyer.
Fans chanted “MS Dhoni” in celebration of the Men in Yellow’s historic win after the game ended.
The crowd’s chants of “Dhoni Dhoni” demonstrated the fans’ passion and devotion to MS Dhoni.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won their ‘joint-record’ fifth title thanks to a fifty-run partnership between Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad and cameos from Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja on Sunday in Ahmedabad.
The game was postponed because of the weather. CSK’s aim was changed to 171 runs in 15 overs after the break. A solid foundation was laid by openers Devon Conway (47 runs off 25 balls) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (26 runs off 16 balls) for the team to build upon. Mohit Sharma’s tight bowling helped GT come back despite early scores from Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 13 balls) and Ambati Rayadu (19 off 8 balls). As an added bonus, he traded Dhoni for a golden duck.
There were 13 runs needed for CSK in the last over. Jadeja smashed a match-winning four off the last ball, and despite Mohit’s best efforts, GT lost the game.
Mohit, one of GT’s bowlers, stood out for the team with a 3-for-36 performance in four overs. The ball skills of Noor Ahmed (2/17) were noteworthy as well.
