Pakistan recently became the subject of a new Kiwi cancellation, when New Zealand elected to skip their tour of the country.

It is possible the ECB will reach a conclusion in the next day or two.

An ECB spokeswoman stated to ESPNcricinfo that England’s security staff is now evaluating the situation in Pakistan before deciding in the next day or two on whether to proceed with their planned tour.

After the cancellation of New Zealand’s cricket tour to Pakistan, England is now unsure of the nature of its visit to the troubled country, with the ECB saying it will review the situation over the next 24-48 hours and make a decision about the tour shortly. Just prior to the first ODI in Pakistan, New Zealand’s cricket body got a security threat, which it felt had to act on immediately. So, it pulled its players out of the country. England is set to return to Pakistan for the first time in eight years, arriving in Rawalpindi in October for two Twenty20 Internationals.

ESPNcricinfo reports that the ECB spokesman has confirmed that the ECB was aware of New Zealand’s decision to cancel their tour to Pakistan owing to a security threat.

“We are speaking with our security team in Pakistan to figure out what is going on there. We’ll know within the next 48 hours whether our trip can continue.”

A huge roadblock to reviving international cricket in Pakistan has been caused by the cancellation of the New Zealand tour.

While some International Cricket and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have been played in the country, it is still uncertain if any of the big Test nations would come to Pakistan for a full-scale tour.

Later this year, the West Indies team is slated to visit Pakistan. Australia will visit Pakistan early next year, as well.
