In October-November, BCCI selected nine venues for the T20 World Cup.

The BCCI will hold a Special General Meeting which will concentrate on the T20 World Cup in India later this year.

The Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI) called for a Special General Meeting (SGM) virtually to take place on 29th May in conjunction with the ICC meeting on 1st June. The conference will concentrate on hosting the T20 World Cup. With regard to ANI, sources knowing about the developments in the board said that the idea of calling for the meeting is to discuss the way forward in October-November with the host of the T20 World Cup.

“The ICC will hold a meeting on 1 June and before that, we will hold our own meeting on 29 May to talk about the situation of COVID 19 and what steps should be taken to take into consideration the T20 World Cup scheduled for October-November in India,” the source said.

Nine venues for the event were chosen by the BCCI: Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Dharamsala, and Lucknow.

At the last meeting of the Apex Council, the state associations were ordered to continue to prepare the event with a view to the coronavirus pandemic.

“The nine venues were told and it was addressed once again that arrangements for the showpiece should begin with an eye on the Covid-19 situation, and that a call is only made near. It is too early to think how the coronavirus situation could or would be in October-November. But preparations are underway, “ANI was told by the BCCI source.

When asked if other issues would also be addressed in the SGM, the source indicated that the international calendar, as well as female cricket, would be discussed.

“Yes, the international calendar and women’s cricket will be detailed, apart from the T20 World Cup and the discussions that must be held around the host of the show,” the source said.
