Rain delayed play in the second test, much to the dismay of Rohit Sharma.

The fifth and final day of the second Test between India and West Indies was rained out on Monday. With the series at 1-0 in favor of the Rohit Sharma-led team, the second Test concluded in a tie. Although the Caribbean team had eight wickets remaining on Day 5, they still needed 289 runs to win. Unfortunately for India, the rain put a damper on their day, as they were unable to bowl a single ball.

India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, turned to Twitter after the game to voice his team’s displeasure with the result. The weather in Mumbai is “Mumbai ya Trinidad,” Rohit remarked, contrasting it with his native Trinidad.

India, looking to complete a clean sweep after their three-day victory in Dominica, called the shots here as well, setting the hosts a daunting aim of 365. The fifth and final day of play was rained off, leading to a tie in the match.

After two wickets on day four, India likely felt confident in their chances of winning the match and gaining 24 points in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle, as the West Indies were trailing by 289 runs.

After the game, Rohit said, “Every win is different,” in an interview with the local broadcasters. The difficulty of playing in Wisconsin is unique. Satisfied with how everything turned out. We really tried, but we just didn’t get any breaks today. We had good intentions when we left yesterday. The rain had the last word. We thought highly of ourselves. You’ve experienced the difficulty of hitting last.

We were hoping for a score like that, where the other team would have to go for it, all along. On the surface, there wasn’t much to see. It’s very bad we can’t play today,” he continued.
