The new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) will begin with India and the West Indies playing at the Roseau in Dominica.

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite thinks that the legendary Brian Lara’s advice on situational awareness will be invaluable to his team’s hitters in the upcoming two-Test series against India starting on July 12. The addition of Lara as a performance mentor for the West Indies team before their multi-format series against India is a significant boost for the Caribbean side. It’s fantastic that he could make it. Every time we talk to him, we pick up something new, and he stresses the importance of strategy when it comes to scoring runs. Brathwaite remarked of his batting coach that “his advice on situations is great and it will only help the batters” in a statement released by Cricket West Indies. The captain has spoken highly of Lara’s effect on the team after his time spent with them on visits to Zimbabwe and South Africa earlier this year.

The first game of the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle will be played on Dominica’s Roseau.

India would be seeking to bounce back from their loss to Australia in the World T20 final at The Oval by winning the Caribbean series.

When the squad arrived in Barbados, they were greeted by none other than Sir Garfield Sobers, the great West Indies all-rounder.

Brathwaite expressed his team’s excitement for the upcoming India games and urged fans in Dominica, the site of the first Test, to get behind the local squad.

It’s crucial to get off to a good start. Our boys are pumped up for the game because we get to take it against India. He continued, “The guys are really looking forward to the first two Test matches of this (WTC) cycle; the first one will be played in Dominica, and we call for the supporters in Dominica to come out and support us.”

“The guys (teammates) have put in some good effort in the last three days, and they still have a few days left and you know we have to (to) keep pushing hard.”
