Jhulan Goswami
At NCA, KL Rahul faced Jhulan Goswami in the nets.

KL During the Indian Premier League 2022, Rahul played his last game of competitive cricket. Lucknow Super Giants, a relative unknown, were his team during the competition.

One of KL Rahul’s net sessions at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru against Jhulan Goswami has gone popular on the internet. Goswami can be seen bowling a fuller length delivery on the stumps to Rahul, followed by a short ball outside off stump, in the video that has leaked. It was a flawless performance from the right-handed hitter, who crushed a cover drive on the first pitch and cut the second one from the back foot on the offside.

Notably, Rahul is now recuperating from successful sports hernia surgery in Germany at the NCA. In June, the team’s five-match T20I series against South Africa was cut short because of the absence of this player. He was set to take the helm of the Indian squad in the absence of Rohit Shama, but a groin ailment forced him to withdraw from the tournament.

During the Indian Premier League 2022, Rahul was last spotted taking part in a game of cricket. The Lucknow Super Giants, the tournament’s surprise participants, were led by him. LSG reached IPL 2022 Qualifier 2 under Rahul’s guidance, losing to Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets. After a close game against Rajasthan Royals in the final, Gujarat Titans emerged victorious by seven wickets as the champions of the tournament.

For the forthcoming five-match series against West Indies, India expects Rahul to play but his inclusion in the squad is dependent on his fitness. The Caribbean T20I series between India and the West Indies begins on July 29.

Speaking about Goswami, she last appeared for India at the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2022, when she was a right-handed bowler. As she announced her retirement from Twenty20 international cricket roughly four years ago, she is not included in India’s roster for the 2017 Commonwealth Games.
