Team India’s Hardik Pandya practices power-hitting ahead of the first T20I matchup with New Zealand.

Shikhar Dhawan will serve as the team’s captain for the one-day matches while Hardik Pandya will serve as the captain for the T20Is.

As Hardik Pandya prepares to captain Team India against New Zealand in a three-match T20I series without Rohit Sharma, all eyes will be on him. As India looks to recover from the T20 World Cup failure, Hardik, who previously led the squad on a tour of Ireland earlier this year, will attempt to solidify his captaincy credentials once more. India advanced to the competition’s semifinals but fell to eventual champions England.

The Indian squad practiced in Wellington before the inaugural T20 International. The BCCI posted the video to their official Twitter account.

The Indian batsmen were seen hitting for power in the video.

Hardik was also observed throwing down some batters.

Shikhar Dhawan will serve as the team’s captain for the one-day matches while Hardik has been selected as the skipper for the T20Is.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant has been selected as vice-captain for the trip to Australia.

Rahul Dravid, the head coach of India, is also taking a hiatus, and VVS Laxman, the director of the National Cricket Academy, will take over.

In a news conference, Hardik stated that the younger players had the opportunity to make a statement because the more experienced players, such as Rohit and Virat Kohli, have been rested.

He had stated on Wednesday, “The key boys are not here, but we have a fresh bunch — young guys with loads of excitement and energy.”
