Sri Lanka vs India
Suryakumar Yadav achieved his second fifty T20I against Sri Lanka in the 1st T20I.

Shikhar Dhawan, the captain of India, hailed Suryakumar Yadav’s batting for the Sri Lankan series.

Suryakumar Yadav is “surprising” to witness with his 360-degree strokes, Captain Shikhar Dhawan of India said on Sunday following a smashing triumph over Sri Lanka at the first T20 International. Surya hit 50 out of 34 balls in the fourth T20 International, his second half-century, and he was engaged in a 62-run stand with Dhawan for the third wicket. “He(Surya) is an excellent player and we like to watch him bat. He eased the pressure from me and the way he played measured strokes was incredible to witness,” remarked Dhawan in the ceremony after the game. While Dhawan stated that he thought they were “10-15 short runs,” he also evaluated that recovery was not too awful.

“We played really well after we lost early wickets, I feel. We figured we could go about one or two borders.”

Dhawan was certain his spinners would do well and Yuzvendra Chahal and Krunal Pandya reinforced him to make a late comeback with rookie Varun Chakravarthy.

“They played well. We understood that our spinners would do the work on this wicket. Bhuvi bowled well, KP did (Krunal). Everyone got up and even Varun did a few runs and grabbed the wicket to play his maiden match. He’s hard to pick (Varun), I’m very thrilled for him.”

Captain Dasun Shanaka of Sri Lanka felt that the objective of 165 was achievable.

“On this wicket, I think 164 was chasable. I thought their bowlers started pretty well in the beginning. And then there were not enough hitters in the middle order to complete the game.

“I believe our bowlers have done an incredible job. I hope in the next game we come out and do better,” Shanaka said.
