Now that T20 leagues exist, the best cricket players may be seen playing at any time of the year. It has also meant a massive rise in the flow of money, which has resulted in increased compensation and upgraded amenities. Still, there are some occurrences that are so outlandish they defy belief. On Monday, a snake invaded the playing surface during a match between the Galle Titans and the Dambulla Aura for the Lanka Premier League 2023. Dambulla’s 181-run chase was in the midst of the fifth over when the tragedy occurred. Shakib Al Hasan, the hero of the Galle Titans, was spotted waving at the snake as the game was called off.

The athletes all laughed together. Galle prevailed in the decisive one-over tiebreaker.

Sri Lanka will host the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 from July 30 to August 21, and international cricket stars like Babar Azam, Shakib Al Hasan, and David Miller are raring to go. For the fourth season, matches will be played in both Colombo and Kandy, guaranteeing the presence of international superstars like Babar Azam and Shakib Al Hasan and Australian legend David Miller, as well as homegrown heroes like Thisara Perera and Wanidu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews and skipper Dasun Shanaka.

We are pleased to have Star Sports as the league’s official television broadcaster for the 2023 season. Since its creation, the LPL has offered a platform for Sri Lankan cricket to consistently produce outstanding cricketers while also showcasing an attractive brand of cricket. Anil Mohan Sankhdhar, founder and CEO of IPG Group, the official rights holder of LPL, said, “We are very excited to bring the global cricketing audience an opportunity to not only witness an extremely competitive and captivating brand of T20 cricket but also dish out unmatched non-live cricketing content for fans across India, Sri Lanka, the subcontinent, and the MENA region.” Star Sports is one of the many committed stakeholders.
