As Ricky Ponting has revealed, he was approached for the head coach’s position with Team India in IPL 2021 but decided to decline after considering the nature of the job and his own time management abilities.

Under the guidance of Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma, Indian cricket has entered a new age. On Wednesday, India beat New Zealand in the opening Twenty20 International of the three-match series in Jaipur. However, Ricky Ponting has disclosed that he was approached by the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2021 to be Team India’s head coach, but he turned it down after considering the job’s requirements and his time management.

“During the IPL, I discussed it with a few other people (the head coach position). It seems like everyone I spoke to was adamant about finding a solution. It was the first thing that sprang to me when I was asked if I would be interested in coaching in the Indian Premier League (IPL) “On Grade Cricketer’s Podcast, he said this.

Even yet, Rahul Dravid’s appointment as head coach astonished the two-time World Cup-winning captain because of his family life and young children.

“To be honest, I’m astonished that Dravid has decided to join in on the fun, too. A lot of people talked about how delighted he was in his position as an Under-19 coach. I don’t know much about his personal life, but I’m sure he has a family. Because of this, I’m shocked that he accepted, but as I said, the individuals I spoke to were confident that they had the appropriate guy, so they may have been able to persuade Dravid to do it “he asserted, according to her.

Currently, he is the head coach of Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After being asked about his future contract with Delhi Capitals during a podcast, the renowned cricketer revealed that he will remain with the franchise next year.

“Delhi is a safe bet for me next year. Last four years I spent there were some of my favorite years of my life. Some of the young players I had the opportunity to work with were extraordinary and wonderful people, and we had a terrific time together. Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Avesh Khan, and all of these guys have become fantastic IPL players and some of them have also become exceptional international players “Ponting made the comment.

Asked about next year’s upcoming mega auction, Ponting indicated that the team will do its best to keep most of the present pool of players, but that it will be difficult.

“We can only maintain four guys in the squad because of the retention rules, and we had a roster of 24 or 25 players last year. Most of those men will be returning with us, but it will be difficult to do so. There’s a good chance that Iyer (Shreyas) and Pant (Rishabh) are being wooed by the new teams and that they’re seeking to secure these individuals as generational franchise players. It’s my responsibility, along with the Delhi franchise, to keep an eye out for them “she said.

This is the third consecutive season that Delhi Capitals have qualified for the IPL play-offs, having finished runners-up in 2020.
