The remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League, which were postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak, can now be rescheduled in June, the Pakistan Cricket Board said.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the franchisees are aiming to rezone the remaining 20 Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Karachi in June. “In a virtual meeting held on Thursday evening, it was unanimously agreed upon by the six franchise owners and the PCB,” the PCB said in a statement. The PCB stated that June emerged as the most preferred and viable window due to the international commitments of Pakistan’s men’s team in late March-April and August-September.
“The remaining 20 matches in June are now being planned after the return of the men’s national cricket team from Zimbabwe on May 13 and before leaving for England on June 26. On Sunday, the PCB named an independent fact-finding panel that would review the bio-safe protocol imposed during the PSL.
“Specialized infectious disease specialists Dr. Syed Faisal Mahmood and Dr. Salma Muhammad Abbas have been appointed as independent members of the two-man fact-finding panel, which will review the bio-safe protocols as well as by-elections. Super League 6, ”the PCB said.
The board had said that the independent panel would submit its findings and recommendations to PCB chairman Ehsan Mani by 31 March.
Earlier, the sixth season of PSL was postponed following a string of positive COVID-19 cases.
The PCB had said that the decision was taken after seven cases were revealed in the competition, which started on 20 February.
