Rather than committing to anything, MS Dhoni stated that he intends to return for the upcoming season.
What all cricket fans wanted to know ahead of Chennai Super Kings’ final match of the IPL 2022 season versus Rajasthan Royals was whether or not MS Dhoni would play for CSK in the upcoming season. Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first against the Royals.
Afterward, Dhoni was asked about his long-term plans.
When asked whether he had made a promise to return for the 2014-15 season, Dhoni just stated, “I’ll do my best.”
There’s no doubt about it. At the toss, Dhoni stated, “It would be unfair not to play in Chennai, and thank you.” As a player and as a team, I’ve received a lot of love and admiration in Mumbai, but I know that it won’t be good for the CSK fans. Hopefully, next year, the squad will have the opportunity to travel. So, it will be a way of saying thank you to everyone who has come out to play games in various locations.
While it’s impossible to know if this would be his final season or not, Dhoni stated, “I will work hard to come back strong next year,” when questioned about his future in cricket.
MS Dhoni has guided CSK to four IPL victories in the past, and after announcing his international retirement on August 15, 2020, he has only played in the Indian Premier League.
Ravindra Jadeja will take over from MS Dhoni as CSK’s head coach in time for the 2022 IPL season. CSK had a horrible start to the season under Jadeja’s leadership, and the all-personal rounder’s form suffered as a result.
It wasn’t long before Jadeja relinquished the leadership and was sidelined for the rest of the season due to an injury.
