A T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan has become the most-watched T20I match.

The official broadcaster of the 2021 T20 World Cup said that India vs. Pakistan match registered a record reach of 167 million viewers, making it the most viewed T20I to date.

The official broadcaster of the T20 World Cup announced that the India vs. Pakistan match had a record audience of 167 million viewers, making it the most viewed T20 International to date. A total of 238 million people tuned in to watch the first 12 games of the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup as of last week, according to a statement from Star India.

136 million people tuned in to watch the semi-final between India and the West Indies in the 2016 T20 World Cup.

An ICC World Twenty20 semi-final between India and West Indies in 2016 was the most-watched T20I match, but the October 24 clash between India and Pakistan, which saw the arch-rivals meet at an ICC tournament for the first time in two years, has overtaken that record.

On October 24, India and Pakistan met for the first time, with Pakistan claiming a resounding 10-wicket victory.

A Star India spokesperson was quoted as saying, “The India-Pakistan match has created history by clocking a record reach of 167 million viewers, making it the most viewed T20I match to date.”

“This record is a testament to our efforts across high-decibel campaigns, enhanced storytelling, dedicated regional programming, and consumer innovations,” says a statement from Cricket Australia.

On Monday, India was knocked out of the tournament, while Pakistan advanced to the semi-finals.

Despite the loss of the match and India’s elimination from the tournament, “the record viewership shows the unique power of Cricket to engage audiences at an unprecedented scale,” a spokesperson for the tournament said.
