India reached 390/5, with Virat Kohli scoring an unbeaten 166, and then bowled out Sri Lanka for 73.

On Sunday, India defeated Sri Lanka by 317 runs, the largest victory margin in ODI history, thanks in large part to a century from Virat Kohli.

Sunday’s 317-run Indian victory over Sri Lanka was the largest in the history of one-day internationals and was aided greatly by Virat Kohli, who struck his 74th international century. The Indian team, led by Kohli’s unbeaten 166, scored 390-5 before bowling out Sri Lanka for 73 in 22 overs. Two of Sachin Tendulkar’s “all-time records” were shattered by Kohli throughout this procedure. In the 50-over version of international cricket, Kohli has scored more hundreds against a single team than anybody else in history, passing Tendulkar in the process. The Indian dugout rose to its feet to cheer Kohli as he shattered several of Tendulkar’s batting records.

India scored 390-5 in their encounter against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram thanks to a century from Virat Kohli and 116 from opener Shubman Gill.

India’s rout of the tourists for 72 runs in 22 overs was the largest ever, surpassing New Zealand’s 290-run thumping of Ireland in 2008.

After India won the toss and opted to bat, the second-wicket stand of 131 runs between Gill and Kohli stood out.

Kohli scored his 150 in 106 balls, with 13 fours and eight sixes, moving him into the top five all-time ODI run scorers and over the record of 12,650 held by Sri Lankan great Mahela Jayawardene.

After Mohammed Siraj took three wickets in his first five overs, including Avishka Fernando for one and Kusal Mendis for four, Sri Lanka never had a chance in the chase.

Siraj’s pace and swing hindered the tourists from reaching their target, and the quick also ran out Karunaratne by catching him off guard and out of his crease at the striker’s end with a direct throw.

With nine wickets down and Bandara out due to injury, Sri Lanka’s batting collapsed in just 28 overs thanks to two-wicket hauls from Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav.

India won the series against Sri Lanka by a score of 3-0.
