India won the second T20I but the ICC fined them for a slow over-rate and fined 20 percent of their match fees.

India has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate against England in the second T20 International match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a release, “India has been fined 20 percent of its match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate against England in the second T20I in Ahmedabad on Sunday.” The ICC said that India had been reduced to less than the target after taking time allowances. India captain Virat Kohli pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the proposed sanction.

India beat England by 7 wickets in the match to tie the five-match series 1–1.

A good bowling performance put India at 164 for England, with Jason Roy top-scoring for the visitors with 46.

India was clinical in the chase despite KL Rahul’s dismissal in the very first over. Debutant Ishan Kishan, opening in place of Shikhar Dhawan, started fast and attacked the England bowlers to reduce the attack rate.

India was in control by the time he was dismissed for 56 off 32 balls, with Kohli set at the other end.

Rishabh Pant’s 26 of 13 balls came in fours but sealed the game and the India captain saw his team home with Shreyas Iyer.

Kohli returned to form with his 49-ball 73, which also saw him become the first cricketer to score 3,000 runs in men’s T20Is.

Both teams will clash in the third T20I at the same venue on Tuesday.
