Mumbai, India, will host the WPL auctions on February 13.

All of the games will take place at either the Brabourne Stadium or the DY Patil Stadium, with the first matchup of the tournament likely being between the Gujarat Giants and a team controlled by the Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai will host the first-ever Women’s Premier League (WPL) season from March 4th to the 26th. All of the games will take place at either the Brabourne Stadium or the DY Patil Stadium, with the opener of the tournament likely to be contested between the Gujarat Giants and a franchise owned by the Mumbai Indians. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal told PTI on Monday that the Women’s Premier League would take place in Mumbai from March 4th to the 26th.

Dhumal also stated that the auction would take place in Mumbai on February 13th, a day after India’s match against Pakistan in the Twenty20 World Cup.

The WPL is the second most valuable Twenty20 League in the world, behind only the Indian Premier League, which sold broadcast rights for Rs 951 crore and the five teams for Rs 4669.99 crore.

There are three principal owners of IPL teams: the Mumbai Indians, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the Delhi Capitals. Two other groups, Capri Global Holdings (Lucknow) and Adani Sportsline, have acquired the remaining five franchises.

About 1,500 people have signed up to play in the league, and the final roster will be unveiled later this week.

At the player auction next month, each team will have a purse of Rs 12 crore and is able to buy between 15 and 18 players. The starting eleven can have a maximum of five international players, one of whom must be from an associate member country.

In the first season, each team will face each other 22 times, with the league’s top two teams automatically advancing to the championship game. The couples who finished second and third will compete for the opportunity to play for the championship.
