Sri Lanka against India Sri Lanka pacer Suranga Lakmal’s final outing in international cricket was an emotional Test

When India’s Rohit Sharma-led team beat, Sri Lanka, by 238 runs in the second Test (D/N) in Bengaluru on Monday, the bowlers were at their ruthless best. India has now won both matches in this two-match series. Since Rohit was named captain of the team, India has won 14 straight games in all forms. It was a memorable Test for India’s Jasprit Bumrah, who took five wickets in the first innings and three more in the second to record his first five-for on home soil. But Bumrah had the world captivated with his heartfelt gift to Sri Lankan bowler Suranga Lakmal.

Bumrah was quick to congratulate Lakmal, who was playing his final international match, after dismissing the Sri Lankan fast bowler on the third day.

Even Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli thanked the player after the match.

As Lakmal returned to the pavilion, he was greeted by players from both dressing rooms, who gave him a guard of honor.

The official Twitter account for BCCI posted a video of the incident.

People’s reactions to Bumrah’s gesture in support of Lakmal have been mixed on social media.

When asked about Lakmal’s performance post-match, Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne said the batsman was “one of the finest”.

“One of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen. I am thrilled for him and confident that he will excel in county cricket “Karunaratne made the remarks during the ceremony’s presentation.

In 2009, Lakmal made his ODI debut against India in Nagpur, where he took just one wicket.

He made his Test debut against the West Indies in Colombo about a year later.

The 35-year-old is retiring from international cricket after 70 Tests, 86 one-day internationals, and 11 twenty20 internationals.

A total of 288 wickets were taken by Lakmal during his career in all formats.
