After Earl Eddings’ resignation in October last year, Henderson, a former first-grade footballer and current group CEO of Epworth HealthCare, has been named as the next chair of the board.

Interim chairman Richard Freudenstein has been replaced by Lachlan Henderson as Cricket Australia’s new chairman of the board on Thursday. This is the third chair to be named in the last five months; he replaces Earl Eddings, who resigned from his position in October of last year. Henderson is currently the group chief executive of Epworth HealthCare.

In a statement Thursday, the Cricket Board said that Dr. Henderson, who would begin immediately, signaled his first priority would be establishing a strong, sustainable financial future for cricket, increasing participation, particularly among females, and greater communication with state and territory chairmen and all stakeholders.

Former Western Australian cricketer and Cricket Australia board member Phil Henderson has been appointed as Australia’s Test captain and head coach, respectively, following the departure of Tim Paine and Justin Langer.

“I’d want to express my gratitude to Richard, the other CA directors, and the chairs and boards at the various state levels for their assistance. Serving as the new chair of our nation’s sport is a great honor and a privilege “a former chairman of Western Australia’s cricket association, Henderson, who served in that position for two years

According to Henderson, he is “excited to work closely with our states and territory cricket chairs and associations, the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA), our players and our partners, on how we unite and work together to ensure cricket continues to thrive into the future as Australia’s favorite sport.”
