India holds a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series against South Africa.

A rain-delayed fourth day of the second Test at the Wanderers in Johannesburg was postponed even more on Thursday. South Africa was 118/2 at the end of Day 3 in their 240-run chase, with skipper Dean Elgar holding fort at one end with an unbroken score of 46. South Africa captain Faf du Plessis was outstanding in the second innings, batting beautifully and standing firm against the Indian bowlers. He was also a member of two successful teams. Elgar and Aiden Markram shared 47 runs for the first wicket before Keegan Petersen and Elgar put on 46 runs for the second.

“114 for 2 on that? I don’t understand how it happened (pitch.) I think it’s time to give Dean Elgar and Dimuth Karunaratne some more credit than they’ve been given. Two of the most modest yet fiercely competitive openers in recent Test history. To put it another way, “On the third day of the series, Bishop tweeted just before the ball was struck.

Elgar, on the other hand, performed admirably in the early innings but was unable to capitalize on a promising start. His 28-run first-innings effort required 120 balls from him.

Even though India has never won a Test series in South Africa, the visitors do have a solid chance this time around as they lead the three-match series 1-0.
