Nepalese captain Rohit Paudel has spoken of his team’s anticipation of facing India in the Asia Cup 2023.
Nepal captain Rohit Paudel spoke to the media before his team’s Asia Cup match against India in Kandy, expressing his team’s eagerness to play against the Men in Blue and saying that they had plans to challenge the team’s best hitters, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, with Kohli also being called the “inspiration” for the Nepalese squad. Kandy will play host to India and Nepal’s Asia Cup match. After a win against Nepal and a loss to archrivals India, which resulted in a point split, Pakistan earned three points in Group A and advanced to the Super Four stage. In order to advance to the Super Four stage, India (with one point) and Nepal (with no points) must win this match.
We can’t wait to play India. India is an enormous nation. At a news conference on Sunday, the captain said, “We are all excited to represent Nepal against India on the biggest stage.”
“Virat and Rohit have been the stars for their country for over ten years,” Paudel remarked of going up against Virat and Rohit. We have strategies to deal with them, and we will hopefully begin implementing them tomorrow.
Virat was called an “inspiration” by him.
“Virat is an inspiration for all of us, not only for his work ethic but also for his discipline, on and off the pitch,” stated the captain.
Even though they lost badly to Pakistan in the first match, Paudel is optimistic about the team’s future because of the supporters’ enthusiastic reception.
Over the past two or three years, our players have put in countless hours of practice. In fact, that’s the whole point. Our ancestors have tried hard for the last two or three generations to get us this chance to play. We’d like to play for them in the game,” he clarified.
The captain acknowledged that a match against India would be a “fanboy moment” for the Nepalese squad, given that the Men in Blue feature so many of the sport’s biggest celebrities.
“But on the pitch, it will be a game that both of us will be wanting to win,” he said.
