India’s cricket board secretary Jay Shah confirmed to ANI that Sourav Ganguly has not resigned as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. When Ganguly tweeted a cryptic message about launching “something that I believe will benefit many people,” it sparked speculation about his future in the role.

“The year 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of my first cricket match in 1992. Since that time, cricket has provided me with a great deal. It has given me the support of all of you, and that is the most important thing. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of my journey, helped me along the way and has been a source of inspiration for me. Today, I intend to begin something that I believe will be beneficial to a large number of others. As I begin this new chapter in my life, I rely on your continued support “In a series of tweets, Ganguly conveyed the message.

“According to the rumor mill, Mr. Sourav Ganguly would not be stepping down from his position as BCCI President. Exciting times for media rights are ahead, and my colleagues and I are fully committed to seizing this opportunity and protecting Indian cricket’s best interests “ANI quotes BCCI Secretary Jay Shah as saying.

More than 18,000 runs were scored in 113 Tests and 311 ODIs by Ganguly for India. India’s golden phase of Test cricket came to an end in 2003, when he led them to their first World Cup final and established the framework for a great moment in Indian cricket history.

In October 2019, Ganguly became the head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
