Gujarat Titans
In 2022, the Gujarat Titans triumphed in the IPL.

The director of cricket for the Gujarat Titans has expressed his confidence in a young Indian batsman to replace Hardik Pandya as captain of the squad in the Indian Premier League.

IPL team director of cricket Vikram Solanki said on Thursday that young Indian opener Shubman Gill has a “sharp cricketing brain” and has the potential to become a future leader of the Gujarat Titans because of his demeanor and work ethic. Because of his consistent performance, including a double century in one-day internationals against New Zealand, Gill has become an essential member of the Indian team in the last six months or so. In addition, he contributed to the Gujarat Titans’ 2017 championship run. Gill is seen as a leader within the core group, alongside Pandya, who will continue as GT captain in their second IPL season.

“Because he is willing to take on so much responsibility, Shubman can be considered a leader in his own right. To me, it doesn’t matter if you use an asterisk next to a player’s name while you play “At a Thursday online press conference, Solanki made the remarks.

Last season, “Shubman adapted the leadership role” with his demeanor, approach, and professional outlook on the game. The right-hander scored 432 runs in 16 games at an average of 132.32 with four fifties, finishing second in the league’s leading run-getters list after Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya.

“Do I anticipate Shubman to play a significant role as a future leader? Yes, unquestionably, although we haven’t settled on a plan just yet. He’s a natural leader with a wealth of experience and ability “This is what Solanki remarked.

We will keep talking to Shubman and asking for his input on all of our cricketing decisions since he has a very sharp cricketing intellect. On March 31, GT will kick off their season against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have won the IPL a record four times.

BCCI has published new rules for the Indian Premier League, stating, “Each captain shall nominate 11 players plus a maximum of 5 substitute fielders in writing to the IPL Match Referee following the toss.” This practically implies that following the toss, a captain has the opportunity to make adjustments to his starting eleven as he sees fit in light of the situation.

According to Solanki, a former England international, the regulation change will alter the IPL’s gameplay.

“Just have to see what happens. It will be interesting to see how the dynamics shift, and it may prompt some strategic choices.

“The way we see it right now, however, you can name your eleven or a larger squad of fifteen after the toss, and that makes a difference.

“We are just beginning to explore this, but it promises to provide a new dimension to this year’s IPL. It will be fascinating to observe how various teams adjust to the new regulation.” Solanki has assured fans that the Gujarat Titans don’t need to worry about anyone getting hurt, as top batter David Miller just recently joined the team.

Miller’s commitment to the national team means he must miss CSK’s season opener.

“When it comes to getting ready, everybody is on the same page. We intend to make every effort to ensure that our efforts will produce the greatest possible results. Nothing in Chennai will change, and neither will we. In that first game, both ourselves and Chennai would be under a lot of pressure.” Workload management for the main national players will be crucial in October and November when India hosts the ODI World Cup.

Solanki has stated that the franchise will keep an eye on India pacer Mohammad Shami when he enters the IPL after playing three Tests and as many ODIs against Australia.

“He really excelled for us last season. The best thing to do is wait and see what happens; fast bowling is a physically demanding sport, and we must treat the players with due respect “Solanki stated.

“With his recent cricketing schedule, the Gujarat Titans need to do everything in their power to help Mohammad Shami recover and perform at his peak for the team. He will be one of the players we keep a close eye on, using all of our resources to put him in the best position possible for each game.”
