Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant will return to the Indian squad in the second T20I following a hiatus for workload management. This may provide some selection issues for the Indian team management.

At Southampton’s Rose Bowl, India thrashed England 4-0 in the first T20I of the three-match series. The Rohit Sharma-led side won the game comfortably by 50 runs thanks to a team effort. Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal all played well in their respective departments. Still, Hardik Pandya stood out for his all-around effort — 51 of 33 with the bat and 4/33 with the ball.

Second T20I brings back Virat Kohli, Jaspreet Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant to the Indian squad after a hiatus to control their workloads. This will present selection challenges for the Indian team management.

The following is our best guess at the Indian XI to face England in the second Twenty20 international:

Rohit Sharma (captain) was sharp in India’s first T20I victory over England, scoring 24 off 14 deliveries. Despite his record-breaking 13 consecutive T20I victories as captain, Rohit would be hungry to break more records as a batsman.

His 8-run innings from 10 balls in the first encounter failed to create an impression on Ishan Kishan. With Rohit Sharma at the other end, he’ll be eager to get India off to a good start.

Kohli is expected to replace Hooda despite the fact that he has performed admirably in the little opportunities he has received for India recently. Kohli missed the most recent encounter and will be making his return to the starting lineup.

Suryakumar Yadav: The right-hander stole the show once again with his all-around batting style. Suryakumar’s 39-run innings in the first T20I against England clearly indicated his confidence in his batting.

The return of Hardik the bowler, who has been absent of late, would have been of the utmost importance to both the player and India. Hardik scored his first T20I fifty in the first innings and went on to take 4/33 with the ball.

There is a possibility that the management of the squad would give Dinesh Karthik greater playing time. Before the T20 World Cup gets underway, he has performed admirably in the minimal batting opportunities he has had. During this time, Karthik must also improve his wicketkeeping, which he showed signs of doing in the first T20I with England.

Against England in the first Twenty20 International, Axar Patel performed below expectations. His two overs of bowling yielded a total of 23 runs, of which he scored 17 runs from.

Harshal Patel: In three overs, the right-arm pacer posted figures of 1/24. He has consistently taken wickets for India, although he has also given up runs on occasion.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar: In the first T20I against England, the right-arm swing bowler was in vintage form. Even Jos Buttler, the captain of the other team, praised him when he was bowled out for a golden duck. There were only three overs of Bhuvneshwar, but his performance was far above the numbers.

Due to workload management, right-arm bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the first T20I and will be available for selection in the Indian team. Bumrah will be eager to resume his white-ball dominance after a modest IPL 2022 performance. He is anticipated to replace Arshdeep Singh, who has been left out of the England squad for the second and third T20Is.

Each match that Yuzvendra Chahal plays increases his level of confidence. Chahal tallied 2/32 in four overs in England’s first T20I against India. For India, he has been a reliable wicket-taker.
