Ravichandran Ashwin and a handful of Indian coaching staff waited out the rain on Day 1 of the World Test Championship final by playing darts.

Maybe on Day 1 of the eagerly anticipated final of the World Test Championship, the spin-bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin would have been happy to be accurate with the ball in hand. Nevertheless, the first day of the Cricket World Cup matches in India and New Zealand was ruined due to rain, and fans were left in the lurch. However, during the day when they were waiting to see if the game could be resumed, Ashwin used their free time to practice his dart-throwing.

Ashwin can be seen playing darts with members of India’s coaching staff in a video tweeted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“When the rain refused to let up, the BCCI used a wink emoji to convey that they were joking.” Members of #TeamIndia had a friendly game of darts while they were waiting for the rain to stop in Southampton.

Because of incessant rain in Southampton, the first session was washed out. When the rain stopped, there was a glimmer of hope for a round of play, as an inspection was scheduled to take place halfway through the match. Although it was supposed to take place today, the inspection was called off due to the rain and the umpires decided to cancel the game for the day.

The time will be allotted five days for play if it is not possible to make up for a lost time within the scheduled five days, and if an attempt to do so on June 23 does not succeed, then a call for that day will be made later on in the match by the officials.
