Together, they have scored 3919 runs in just 93 innings of work. The two players have a tight relationship off the pitch as well as on it. Sehwag recently disclosed that he and Tendulkar performed a great prank on Sourav Ganguly by having him contact an Adidas official to request a t-shirt back when they were both active players.
According to Sehwag, pranking Ganguly was part of the Master Blaster’s master plot. He disclosed that he and the ex-captain discussed the arrival of new Adidas jerseys from Germany when the latter was in the locker room.
Both Sachin Tendulkar and I have represented Adidas as brand ambassadors. We were on our way to the loo when Sachin suggested, “Let’s play a prank on Dada (Sourav Ganguly). He suggested that I go along with it. While Dada was using the loo, Sehwag and I were waiting outside.
‘These T-shirts from Adidas, imported from Germany, how good are they,’ he said. The thing is extremely nice,” I agreed. And with that, we exited the building. Then Dada called Adidas in Germany and had them ship the T-shirts to India, where Sachin and Sehwag received them.
Sehwag continued by saying that Sachin’s ability to anticipate the line and length of a bowler’s delivery was crucial to his success.
I used to work out with Sachin all the time. There is so much I owe to the lessons he gave me. Challenges and perseverance are what he instilled in me. He would tell me what he thought the bowler’s length would be. When asked how he knew, he’d reply, “I have now played for so many years that I can predict how he is trying to get you out with a fuller length.” He then promised that the upcoming ball will only be a full-length delivery.
