Rashid Khan
Brian Lara slammed leg-spinner Rashid Khan in a huge way.

Until last season, Rashid Khan was a member of the Indian Premier League’s Sunrisers Hyderabad team. He is now a member of the Gujarat Titans.

Rashid Khan’s numbers are self-explanatory. Dwayne Bravo (179 wickets, 158 matches), Lasith Malinga (170 wickets, 122 matches), and Sunil Narine (100 wickets, 121 matches) were the only other international players to get 100 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) (149 wickets, 142 matches). Along with Amit Mishra and Ashish Nehra, the Afghanistan player has taken 100 wickets in the IPL in the third-fastest time (83 matches).

Khan played for Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2017 to 2021, when he took 2/22 in four overs against the Kolkata Knight Riders to become the 16th bowler to reach 100 wickets in the IPL. As a member of the team, he became a household name. Khan was one of the most reliable spinners in the T20 franchise league, taking 93 wickets in 76 matches over the course of five seasons with them. However, following the 2021 IPL season, he left SRH and was selected by Gujarat Titans in the 2022 player selection for INR 15 crores.

Brian Lara, though, the SRH batting coach, believes his squad is doing just fine without the gifted Khan. In the end, I think we’ve got the correct mix,” Rashid Khan said. SRH’s triumph over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday proved that Rashid Khan was not much of a wicket-taker, according to Lara, who spoke to Star Sports following SRH’s victory.

While a run rate of 5.5-6 is excellent, Washington Sundar’s ability to spin the ball against left-handed bowlers in the opening six overs is a valuable asset. Injuries have forced Suchith to take his position, but he’s an excellent replacement.

“We’ve started every game so far with four fast bowlers. The pitches, of course, may alter throughout time, and they may have less grass. Shreyas Gopal is another option, though he has yet to play. He also has a hat-trick in the Indian Premier League. I’m not too concerned about our chances in the Indian Premier League, since I believe we still have a lot to offer. As for Rashid Khan, “I think we might have been 7 out of 7 if he was a member of this team,” Lara continued.
