Punam Raut had a patient satisfaction rating of 36 out of 165 before he was fired on Friday.

Punam Raut walked away without waiting for the umpire’s signal. Since there was no DRS to determine whether or not the Indian batter had edged the ball, her actions have been lauded.

After reaching 276/5 at stumps on Day 2 of the pink-ball Test against Australia, the Indian women’s cricket team is well ahead of the game. After becoming the first Indian woman cricketer to score a Test hundred on Australian soil on Friday, left-handed opening batter Smriti Mandhana has been the show so far. Mandhana wasn’t the only Indian batter to make a splash on Day 2, as Punam Raut did as well. Sophie Molineux dismissed India’s number 3 batter after she had endured 165 deliveries and had amassed a patient 36 runs off them.

Alyssa Healy, the Australian wicketkeeper, safely pouched the ball after Raut got a faint edge while playing a shot outside the off stump. Unanimously, the Australians lodged an appeal before umpires, but they were unsuccessful. Raut, on the other hand, did not remain until the umpire gave the all-clear. Since there was no DRS to determine whether or not the Indian batter had edged the ball, her actions have been lauded.

Mandhana praised Raut’s decision to walk away from the game, saying the Indian number 3 has earned a lot of respect for it.

“Initial thoughts were ‘oh why did she do that, was there an edge to her actions?” However, [sportsmanship] is something we hold in high regard. Because of her bravery in walking away, she’s gained a lot of admiration “reported Cricbuzz’s Smriti Mandhana at the conclusion of the day’s play.

“When it comes to cricket, I’m not sure how many people will actually do that if there isn’t a DRS. People now leave the building because of DRS, but I’m not sure how many people would leave if DRS were absent. Without a doubt, she’s earned the respect of the entire team for doing that “Mandhana chimed in with her perspective as well.

For her decision to walk, Raut has received a lot of support from the cricket community and her social media followers.
