For the current season of the Indian Premier League, Ajinkya Rahane has been outstanding for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He is a crucial member of CSK’s middle order, having scored 266 runs with a strike rate of 171.60 in 10 innings thus far this season. Unfortunately for the Delhi Capitals, Rahane was undone by a great caught and bowled attempt from Lalit Yadav on Wednesday.
Lalit came across the wicket and bowled a full-length delivery to Rahane when he had scored 21 runs off 19 balls.
The former India captain went for a low, direct shot, but Lalit dove to his right and caught the ball with one hand. It was found out that Lalit just had a 0.5-second reaction time.
CSK beat DC by 27 runs despite a poor performance from their top order, thanks to a late cameo from captain M.S. Dhoni and some disciplined bowling.
Dhoni, who made 20 off just nine balls, and Ravindra Jadeja, who made 21, combined for a crucial 38-run seventh-wicket stand, helping Chennai to 167-8.
With seven wins in 12 matches, Chennai is in second place among the 10 teams. Sri Lankan fast Matheesha Pathirana got three wickets to help limit Delhi to 140-8.
With five losses to open the season, David Warner and Delhi are virtually eliminated from postseason contention.
