The left-arm, who is 28 years old, injured his left ankle on Monday in Brisbane during fielding practice before England’s last exhibition game against Pakistan.

Reece Topley, an England seamer, has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to an ankle injury, inflicting a severe setback to the team’s campaign, which gets underway in Perth on Saturday. The left-arm, who is 28 years old, injured his left ankle on Monday in Brisbane during fielding practice before England’s last exhibition game against Pakistan. He will no longer participate in the main tournament, according to Sky Sports.

It is believed that the scans performed following the injury have shown considerable damage. Tymal Mills on the left arm and Richard Gleeson on the right arm are two of the fast bowlers who will go with England and face Afghanistan in their opening encounter on Saturday.

Most likely, Mills, who hasn’t played since August due to a toe injury, will be promoted to the main squad to take Topley’s spot.

Topley has taken 17 wickets in 16 games for an average of 28. He is England’s top wicket-taker in T20 Internationals in 2022. He quickly established himself as a crucial member of England’s T20 bowling attack, both with the new ball and at the end.

Four back stress fractures in five years, the most recent occurring in 2018, prompted him to think about retiring.

Mills participated in four games and took seven wickets in the T20 World Cup that was held in the UAE last year before suffering a thigh ailment that forced him to withdraw.
