Cheteshwar Pujara scored 33 runs for India’s prolific batsman on social media on Monday. India’s cricket captain Virat Kohli was among those who wish the Test star on his special day. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video link of one of Pujara’s finest centuries – an innings of 143 against Sri Lanka in Nagpur. The BCCI also inspired Cheteshwar Pujara to his assurance with a short stanza. Many cricketers and fans took to Twitter as well to tip their hats for the India batting star, who was instrumental in the team’s historic Test series win in Australia recently.
Virat Kohli tweeted, “Happy Birthday @ cheteshwar1. Wish you good health, happiness and more hours at the crease. Best wishes.”
Former Indian fast bowler RP Singh wished Pujara his birthday, pointing to the fact that the batting star in Australia was the “only ‘normal factor” in back-to-back series victories.
Other cricketers and fans also came in large numbers to congratulate Pujara on his birthday.
Pujara failed to score a century in Australia, but he played a key role when India needed it most to grind the Australian bowlers. He played the right foil to more attacking batsmen like Rishabh Pant, as India disbanded Fort Gabba of Australia to win the series 2–1.
In the last 32 years, no guest team had ever won in Gaba before India knocked. Troubled by injuries, the Indian team handed over several debates, and some gave the inexperienced organization anything to do.
A superb performance by Ajinkya Rahane, and supported by the ever-present Pujara, India’s young guns was one of the biggest wins in host history, which surprised the hosts.
