Australian women’s cricket team defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup match in Wellington. Australian skipper Meg Lanning described her team’s performance as “good” following the win.

Capt. Meg Lanning characterized her team’s performance as “good” after the Australians defeated Bangladesh by five wickets at the Basin Reserve on Friday, maintaining their perfect record in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022. Australia faltered miserably in their maiden World Cup chase of 136 runs. Before Beth Mooney took over and led her team to victory, the No. 1 team lost five wickets for just 72 runs. According to Lanning, the Bangladeshi team performed admirably and placed Australia under considerable stress.

“The conditions were by far the most difficult I’ve ever faced while playing. Fielding without a hat was a new experience for me because it was so chilly. For the first time in a long time, we had to fight our way out of this situation. When Bangladesh came out to play, we were under a lot of strain. Mooney and Sutherland had a strong final performance to help us cross the finish line. The umpires and I had a talk about how dark it was “in a post-match presentation, Meg Lanning remarked

A strong start by Bangladesh was aided by Murshida Khatun (12) and Sharmin Akhter (24) who were able to successfully navigate a weakened Australia bowling attack that was without star quick Ellyse Perry due to injury.

“It was good tonight since they were bowling spin, but it would have been difficult to see Darcie Brown if she was bowling. I think they did a terrific job keeping us out there given the circumstances. In order for the batsmen and Sutherland, a young player, to come under pressure and help us get home, it was crucial that they were able to do so “Lanning remarked.

“We know that things aren’t going to go our way in the semifinals, and we have to fight back. This was a very impressive feat, and we’ll accept it as a victory “She went on to say that.

Due to their victory over Pakistan, Australia is the only team remaining in the competition to have gone undefeated and atop the standings.
