Ishan Kishan leaves the pitch after getting poked in the eye.

India’s World T20 squad member Ishan Kishan, who was called up to replace the injured K L Rahul, was wounded in a bizarre accident when he collided with his Mumbai Indians colleague Chris Jordan.

Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green were both dealt hard blows during Friday’s IPL Qualifier 2 match between the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, India, causing both countries to worry about their players’ health as they head toward Sunday’s World Test Championships final. Kishan, who was added to India’s WTC roster as a replacement for K L Rahul, was hurt in a freak accident when he collided with Chris Jordan, also of the Mumbai Indians.

Kishan, who had been batting for Mumbai in their chase against GT, left the pitch with his left hand on his forehead and did not return.

Vishnu Vinod will fill in for Kishan as he recovers from a concussion.

In contrast, Hardik Pandya’s crisp delivery struck Green on the left elbow in the second over of Mumbai’s innings.

However, the Australian all-rounder came out to bat after Tilak Verma’s dismissal in the sixth over.

Australia’s hopes of winning the WTC depend heavily on Green’s versatility.

London’s The Oval will host the World Tennis Championship final on June 7.
